Common questions
Will it make my vocals lisp?
It shouldn't, and the way it works is why. IcePick deals with each sibilant as its own event. Tame Peaks just pulls the loud hit down to match the rest. It isn't ducking a whole frequency band across the signal. Swap goes further: instead of crushing the harsh "s," it replaces it with a cleaner instance from the same take, so the air on the voice stays intact. The only way to know for sure is to put it on your worst vocal and see. The trial is free and full-featured, so try it before you commit.
How is this different from a regular de-esser or Soothe?
A traditional de-esser and Soothe both work across the whole signal. One uses a threshold, the other reduces resonance, and they're good at what they do. IcePick takes a different approach. It finds each sibilant, hard consonant, and breath as a discrete event, and lets you handle each one on its own terms: reduce the level, reshape the tone, or swap it for a cleaner instance from the same take. Different job, different way of getting there. Not a verdict on anyone else's tool.
Does it work on rap, dialogue, or podcasts, or just singing?
The detection (sibilants, hard consonants, breaths) works on any vocal, not just sung melody. We've used it on singing and some spoken-word material in our own sessions, but honestly, we haven't run it through a heavy rap vocal or a long podcast the way we've run it through Ableton and Logic. In theory it should handle that fine. In practice, we can't promise until someone tries. If you do, tell us how it goes.
Where's my download?
Your download link is on the success page after purchase. Bookmark that page. You'll need it if you reinstall. Lost it? Send us a message with your order email and we'll dig up a new one.
How do I install it?
Run the installer, restart your DAW, and IcePick should show up in your effects list. Mac only for now (macOS 10.13+, Intel or Apple Silicon, VST3 / AU / AAX).
Will it work in my DAW?
In theory, anywhere VST3, AU, or AAX is supported. In practice, we've only run it through real sessions in Ableton, Logic, and Pro Tools so far. Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, and FL Studio should be fine, but we can't promise until someone tries. If you do, tell us how it goes.
Can I install it on more than one computer?
Yep, up to 2 computers at a time. Install it wherever you work. Need to swap one out? Email us your license key and we'll free up a slot.
Can I try before I buy?
Yes! Start a 14-day free trial from the homepage. Full functionality, no credit card required. If you like it, buy it. If not, it just stops working.
Why is it so cheap?
Launch pricing. We need early users to tell us what to improve. Once we've learned enough from real sessions, the price goes up.
Do I have to pay for updates?
No. You pay once, and every v1.x update is free, including bug fixes, improvements, and new features in the same generation. If we ever release a v2.0 way down the line, that'd be a separate product, and we'll do something fair for early buyers.
